Women’s Golf Drills Week 5: Driver Accuracy & Distance
Hitting the Driver with Confidence and Control
Welcome to Week 5! It’s time to unleash the big stick. This week’s focus is on improving your driver accuracy and adding distance while keeping shots in play. A powerful yet controlled tee game sets the tone for every hole.
Why the Driver Matters
Consistency off the tee builds confidence and lowers scores. By controlling ball flight and improving accuracy, you set up easier approaches and avoid unnecessary trouble.
Drill 1: Fairway Finder
On the range, set two alignment sticks or targets about 25 yards apart. Challenge yourself to land 7 out of 10 drives between them. Shrink the target zone as you improve.
Drill 2: Tee Height Test
Experiment with tee heights (slightly higher and lower than usual). Track your ball flight and consistency. Find the setup that gives you both distance and control.
Drill 3: Slow-Mo Power
Take 5 practice swings at half speed, focusing on balance and tempo. Then hit 5 balls at 70% speed. Finish with 5 full swings. This progression trains your body to generate effortless power.
On-Course Practice
During your round, pick specific fairway targets (a tree, bunker edge, or distance marker). Focus on swinging with rhythm instead of trying to “kill it.” Keep track of fairways hit for measurable progress.
