Women’s Golf Drills: Week 3 – On-Course Practice & Short Game Mastery

After two weeks of building fundamentals and finding consistency, it’s time to take your practice to the course. Week 3 is where drills meet real play. The focus is on applying what you’ve learned in game-like situations, mastering your short game under pressure, and building confidence when it matters most.

Week 3: Sharpening Skills in On-Course Conditions

Goal for the Week: Apply your fundamentals during on-course play and refine your short game skills to lower scores. By simulating real golf situations, you’ll prepare yourself to perform with confidence under pressure.

Day 1: 9-Hole Round Focusing on Fundamentals

  1. Warm up: practice your pre-shot routine and visualize your opening tee shot.
  2. During play: commit to grip, stance, alignment, and your routine on every swing.
  3. Measure success by execution—not score—for today’s round.
Reflection: Which fundamental felt strongest? Where did you struggle most?

Day 2: Short Game Mastery – Chipping & Putting

  1. Chipping (10, 20, 30 yards): 15 chips at each distance; aim to finish inside a 3–5 ft circle. Rotate clubs to learn trajectories.
  2. Putting (9-hole challenge): Complete each mini-hole in ≤2 putts. Target <19 strokes total.
Reflection: Did you control landing spots on chips? Which putt distance was toughest?

Day 3: Range, Chipping, and Driver Practice

  1. Long irons → driver: Progress from 4/5-iron to driver. Prioritize ball position, tempo, and center-face contact.
  2. Around-the-green: Practice rough, fringe, uphill, and downhill lies; aim to finish inside 3–5 ft.
  3. Lag putting (30 ft): Finish inside 3 ft to reduce 3-putts.
Reflection: How well did you control your drives? Which chipping adjustment helped most from tricky lies?
